About

Joy is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She began her professional life in television production but went back to school to be a counselor after feeling called to do more meaningful work. She graduated from Concordia University Chicago with a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling.

Joy enjoys working with adults, young adults, teens, and kids. She is passionate about helping people struggling with grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and chronic pain.  Joy takes a strengths-based approach and utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in sessions. Using techniques from ACT such as mindfulness, self-compassion, values clarification, and defusion from thoughts, Joy will guide you in accepting yourself and your experiences, while empowering you to make changes that lead to a life worth living.

Joy mainly uses play therapy with kids and pre-teens to help them communicate their feelings and build self-esteem and self-love early in life.

Having lived in Europe and Asia, Joy has a multicultural lens from which she works. She believes everyone is unique and tailors sessions to the individual to help maximize their potential. Joy is LGBTQIA+ affirming.

Joy loves relaxing on the weekends with a good book, the latest HBO or Netflix series, and spending time outside.
