About

Jennifer is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and has received two Master’s degrees, one in Learning Disabilities from Northern Illinois University and one in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University. Jennifer had experience as an elementary education teacher prior to beginning her journey to become a licensed counselor. She has gained additional training in the areas of crisis intervention, domestic violence, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, trauma-focused therapy, and sandtray therapy.

Jennifer enjoys working with children, tweens, teens, and adults facing challenges with depression, anxiety, past trauma, abuse, stress management, anger management, and self-esteem issues. Using a therapeutic approach that is kind, empathic, and supportive, Jennifer empowers each client to build upon their strengths to be able to achieve greater insight and manage emotions more effectively. Jennifer strives to use a person-centered, non-judgmental style to meet each individual client where they are. She believes in the resilience of the human heart and each person’s capacity to overcome obstacles that prevent them from reaching personal goals. Through her work with adult and child victims and perpetrators of domestic violence, Jennifer has gained considerable understanding of the complexity of family dynamics. She considers it an honor to sit with clients and listen to their personal narratives.
